What do you have a body for? "You don't only have a body to carry your head around town" - Gerald Hüther, professor for brain science   For real, we have this powerful tool, the amazing unity with all it's incredible and highly developed parts: OUR BODY. And what do we use to a large degree during our every day life in modern society? The analytic part of our brain. We read, drive the car, work on the computer, watch TV, sit at a table... what do all of these "activities" have in common? High level of brain activity and a low level of physical activity of the larger body parts such as our arms and legs. Which is cool, because we...

BIRTH.WISHES

"We can't control outer circumstances, but that doesn't mean we have to sacrifice dreaming (big). Our dreaming big brings us in perfect alignment with Wellbeing it will help us to stay connected and receive."- Julia Weis In birth literature we often read about making a birth plan. While I advocate for getting yourself as informed as possible to make informed choices and laying the foundation for a birth which is tailored to your preferences I also advocate for being open to life's plan. BELLY.SIZE.IS.JUST.RIGHT

“Comparison is the thief of joy“ - Thoedore Roosevelt   “Oh, how far along are you? Your belly is so big already!” I got asked the other day. Funnily enough, just 24h before another woman asked the same question “Oh, how far along are you? I don’t know exactly what it is, but I’m less absorbent and pretty much “in your face”.   ...

10.REASONS.FOR.A.MIDWIFE

10 reasons why I enjoyed receiving my prenatal care from my midwife   “Hey Julia, how are you and your belly? So do you know what you’re having?” Internally I go as usually when this question arises, and it arises often: “I guess I’m having a human and I’ll do my best to hold the space for this human to keep the wholeness he or she comes with”.    The question comes from my dear granny. She’ s a mother of 4 grown ups, a grandma of 6 plus a great-grandmother. I always love chatting with her about life and changes generally, she’s just got the overview.    “Well grandma, my belly is great, I feel the baby daily and...

EMBRACING.INTERDEPENDENCY (Embrace series Part III)

Can you hold the Baby while I whee?   Could you get me some breakfast? Can you make dinner? Could you get Lea on your way home from her play date?   There it is again. The reality of not being able to make a move without help. And there it is again, my inability to let go of my "I-can-do-it-all-on-my-own-and-look-good-while-doing-it" attitude. And here they are again, these painful moments when the ego shatters into pieces. And here they are again, these moments of surrender, of melting into arms of support, of widening the heart to embrace the small self, these moments crying a river, this mother heart learning about, connections that make life rich and the heart so tender....
